CMS stands for “content management system” and there are a billion — well, hundreds, certainly — of them available. They come in all shapes and sizes: free or commercial, developed by one or a few people or a worldwide network, actively worked on or years old.

And, since “content” can mean several things, they can differ greatly in how well-adapted they may be to a given task or project.
